DIESTALMENES CHORES

“Diestalmenes Chores” or “Dilated Pupils” is a project about the awareness of the complex and multidimensional nature of Human Beings. It opens a window into the process of accepting our inner self. The goal of the project is to reflect how our mind creates and shapes a plan of individual integration within Society based on how we live and grow up within It.
Every text, image, and graphic within this work is my reference point for this process which as a whole,
maps my personal continuous journey from Darkness to Light.

"THE BOOK"

The title of the publication is “ΔΙΕΣΤΑΛΜΕΝΕΣ ΚΟΡΕΣ” (Diestalmenes Chores) which is the Greek for Dilated Pupils. The pupils of our eyes dilate according to the light that exists in the environment we are in. The reason that I called this publication “Diestalmenes Chores” is because this project for me is a journey of discovering the darkest sides of my inner self. The book was written, designed and binded by me.

"THE ARTIFACTS"

Alongside the publication, I created mixed media artworks on canvases. Each artwork is inspired by different sections of the publication.
I collaborated with film director Petros Nikolintais to curate the installations. Specifically, for the TV installation, Petros Nikolintais aimed to develop a concept that would link the exhibition’s aesthetic to his childhood experiences and the factors that shaped his current profession.

"THE BAG"

This section is about my collaboration with the George Parellis who’s a fashion designer and stylist. We created a handmade shoulder bag which works as a case for the publication.

EVENTS

During the exhibition I decided to organize a workshop in collaboration with ItsPpak, who’s a graphic designer. We wanted to do something that would keep us away from our screens. All the participants created their own mixed media collages with materials that we provided. The participants didn’t know each other, and in the end, everyone was talking and collaborating with each other. You could call it a form of Saturday art therapy.

"THE WORKSHOP"

"THE PARTY"

Apart from the workshop, I organized a party during the exhibition, which provided me with the perfect opportunity to involve my friends who specialize in music and visuals in the project. Of course, “Blame The Sun” and “Red Bull” were on hand to serve drinks and cocktails!

"THE CLOSING"

For the exhibition’s closing, I wanted to create something unique and memorable. I reorganized the installation with Petros, and we created a stage for the six artists that they would do a live music performance on.
